Best. Game. Ever.
On a crisp autumn morning, the Lydford Foxes put on a terrific display of talent and effort, with the Blues just edging a game that seemed destined to finish 6-6.
James – who once again excelled in defence – pushed forward to bundle the ball over the line to make it 1-0, before Nathan scored with a Beckham-esque free kick to make it 1-1.
The score was 3-2 to the Blues heading into the break, although the Reds stormed back in the second half, with Ollie, Josh, Shea and Nathan forming a formidable attacking line.
Indeed, it was Nathan who scored a ‘worldy’, with an unbelievable strike from the halfway line, with the ball creeping in below the crossbar and over the despairing Ernie in goal. One for the cameras and the highlights reel.
The game looked to be heading for a draw, before Harvey and Jack scored late goals for the Blues, with the second one scored as the Reds pushed forward for an equaliser.
Both goalkeepers – Ernie and Russell – put in a tremendous shift, with Ernie walking away with the man of the match award for the Blues. For the Reds, Nathan scooped the award, thanks to a hat-trick and two remarkable goals.
There were some excellent performances, with Shea rattling the post on two occasions and sending in some amazing crosses. Harvey and Jack were industrious, while Ollie was excellent on the ball.
Everyone can be proud of their performance today.
